The national strategy for the elimination of HCV in the United States calls for a 90% reduction in the incidence of HCV and having 90% of those with HCV being treated. Scaling up HCV treatment in persons who inject drugs (PWIDs) and persons who are incarcerated is necessary to achieve HCV elimination targets.

These slides will review important issues for PWIDs and the incarcerated with HCV, including epidemiologic trends, prevention strategies, and AASLD recommendations for contemporary HCV management approaches/challenges and harm-reduction approaches.

These steps will reduce the incidence of HCV, cirrhosis, HCC, liver-related deaths, and retransmission of HCV. We are pleased to have recently held the second Optimal Management of HIV Disease & Hepatitis virtual conference. This virtual conference was again held in lieu of our typical in-person conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this change, 15 leading clinicians and researchers in HIV and liver disease presented an array of topics covering ART, PrEP, hepatitis therapy, vaccines, HIV-hepatitis coinfection, substance abuse and mental health considerations. These presentations offered a unique distillation of clinically focused data tailored for practicing healthcare professionals.

Acute right ventricular failure can be a devastating complication of severe PAH. Because of the difference between the left and right sides of the heart, tools and techniques dealing with left-heart failure often do not apply in the setting of the right heart or may even be counter-productive. Intensive case management of RV failure in this setting is extremely complex. This lecture provides top-line expert consensus on the management of acute RV failure.
